Empress Carlota

Today’s doodle was inspired by an exchange yesterday with my friend Paul. Since he has been to Puerto Vallarta and I have not, he kindly briefed me regarding some landmarks I might like to include in these doodles while Dad is vacationing there—specifically the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe, which is topped by an intricate crown.

Later Dad sent me a snapshot of the cathedral’s tower, just barely peeking out over the buildings and trees, taken from his window.

Imagine how thrilled Charlotte was to learn that the crown atop this beautiful landmark was modeled after one worn by the Empress Carlota—AKA Princess Charlotte of Belgium!

A paparazzo subsequently captured this gag shot of our girl on the hotel balcony, leaning out in front of the cathedral…looking every inch the royal princess that she is.

  1. Dad says:

Brilliant! Power surge? knocked out wifi and elevator control but room power is on. Overcast and sprinkles so it’s Kindle, TV and Spanish in 10.

    • Jean says:

      Hey Dad,
Glad you liked! Hope the sprinkles cease and that the elevator is back and running soon. (Those steps are awfully steep for Charlotte and Miss Daisy Mouse, I imagine.)
