\"Charlotte<\/a>Charlotte insisted<\/em> that my first blog post of the year feature her in a pretty new dress, so here she is at the awards ceremony last night. (No, she didn\u2019t win, but she did<\/em> get to spend the evening curled up on various celebrities\u2019 laps\u2014Mirren, Clooney, Spielberg, etc.)<\/p>\n

Ten points to anyone who gets Daisy Mouse\u2019s \u201csnood\u201d reference, by the way. (Give up? It\u2019s from\u00a0White Christmas<\/a>, of course!)<\/p>\n

And speaking of Christmas, I hope everyone out there had a wonderful holiday\u2014fun, festive, peaceful, restful. Mine was spent very happily in cold, wintry Wisconsin, with my dog-niece and -nephew, Molly and Ranger (and Giselle, our mouse-maid, who came along for the cheese).<\/p>\n

I emailed Dad this quick doodle from there on New Year\u2019s Eve\u2014some \u201cvirtual chicken soup\u201d until I could get home and make him the real thing. (A few days before, he’d caught that nasty flu bug that\u2019s been going around, poor fellow.)<\/p>\n

Actually, Molly and Ranger really did<\/em> get to eat steak while I was visiting\u2014about 4 times. (Sorry, Sis.)<\/p>\n

On New Year\u2019s Day, we all met back up in Chicagoland\u2014my sister and her family, Dad and me, to celebrate Dad\u2019s 85th birthday over pancakes. Here he is, through the ages. (Lookin\u2019 good, Pop!)<\/p>\n

Molly and Ranger were not<\/em> able to join us, but phoned in their best wishes nonetheless. (See below.)<\/p>\n

I hope everyone is having a really great new year so far, and is staying busy, happy and well! Look forward to visiting with you on here again real soon. (I\u2019m hoping to do more frequent, if briefer, posts for a while, in order to circulate more of the looser cat doodles I leave on Dad\u2019s breakfast table each morning. We\u2019re drowning in \u2019em, so may as well share\u2014eh?)<\/p>\n
