It must be spring \u2014 finally! \u2014 because today the lawn guy came to treat our grass. Even though we now employ a \u201cnatural\u201d (supposedly non-toxic) lawn service, I still put up little signs asking them to please not treat the bird feeding areas, figuring you can never be too careful, right? \u2014 Signs which this guy ignored!<\/p>\n

So I went out and scraped all the little pellets \u2014 whatever they were \u2014 out from under the bird feeders as soon as Mr. Lawncare left. Then I doodled up an alternative version of events for Dad’s morning cartoon.<\/p>\n

Charlotte was delighted to get dressed up and pose while I did some warm-up sketches. I said, \u201cShow me how angry you\u2019d be if someone did something that harmed our little bird friends.\u201d She looked at me blankly.<\/p>\n

\u201cOK, so picture that your buddy Max has just entered your personal space.\u201d That did the trick. (Hey, whatever works!)<\/p>\n
